Sedation

Although we do not offer IV sedation, we have the less invasive option of sedation dentistry and periodontics in North Raleigh using either Nitrous Oxide or the form of sedation through a pill (ie, Halcion or Valium). Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas, is very safe and is administered through a small hood/mask placed over your nose. It works immediately while you inhale, and it clears out of your system once you stop inhaling it. You are able to drive yourself to and from your appointment since it is out of your system in minutes. Oral sedation is the other option in which we can prescribe either Halcion or Valium. You take one pill an hour prior to your appointment, in which you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment. Patients who use this form of North Raleigh sedation dentistry generally do not remember their appointment, and we recommend that someone stay with them for several hours after they arrive back at home.
